In the Kostroma region, a priest was fined for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation

Kostroma priest fined for anti-war remarks in the sermon and a link to the corresponding petition on parish site.

March 6, 2022 in Kostroma was the rector of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in the village of Karabanovo, Priest John Burdin, was detained. A protocol was drawn up against him under Part 1 of Art. 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the RF Armed Forces in in order to protect the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens, maintain international peace and security, including public calls to prevent the use of the aircraft RF for the indicated purposes). The reason for this was a sermon in which he did not support a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, and link to the anti-war petition on the parish website.
