Tulyak was arrested for symbols of Navalny’s organization

A resident of Tula was brought to justice under Art. 20.3 and 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

On March 28, 2022, it became known that a resident of Tula, LGBT activist Alexander Khots was prosecuted under Part 1 of Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (public display of symbols of an extremist organization) and arrested by the Central District Court for 15 days.

The reason was the demonstration by him of the symbols of the banned structures of Alexei Navalny.

In addition, he was brought to justice for disobeying the lawful demand of a police officer (Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). And the next day, the Tula was also fined Art. 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) for posting on Facebook.

The Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and Navalny's headquarters were recognized as extremist organizations on June 9, 2021. The decision to ban came into force on 4 August. In our opinion, there were no sufficient legal grounds for banning Navalny's organizations as extremist and, accordingly, we consider it unlawful to be persecuted for displaying their symbols.
