April 16, 2022 parishioners of the Catholic parish of St. apostles Peter and Paul in Moscow reported on social networks that the rector of this parish, priest Fernando Vera, a native of Mexico, was expelled from Russia on the eve of Easter.
Parishioners suggest that the reason for expulsions served as the priest's statements regarding the military special operation on territory of Ukraine.
April 21 Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow confirmed the expulsion of Fr. Fernando. According to the press service of the religious organization, On March 28, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs notified the priest about the cancellation of the residence permit. The reasons for this decision were not specified.
