Although it is still unclear what exactly is happening with our brain during sleep, how is the restoration, experts are almost unanimously confident in the benefits of sleeping brain health (about the duration and quality of sleep, however, disputes are underway ).
The international team of scientists drew attention to the hidden mechanism of purification of brain tissue fluid. With the help of this procedure, the brain gets rid of unwanted cell garbage, dangerous protein clusters (traces of beta-amyloid and tau-white are associated with the dementia and disease of Alzheimer) and other toxins.
For at least 10 years, the presence of a glymphatic system in the brain is known. The new insight is that it is almost 10 times more active during sleep. Professor of functional neuroanatomy from the University of Amsterdam, Iskrand Van Der Verf, calls this discovery one of the largest in the study of sleep, writes scientific journalist Marquemam Hyde in his column for Elemental on the Medium platform.
