The names of the already 2120 Russian military who died during the war in Ukraine are confirmed. Information about this is contained in open sources and was collected by the Russian BBC service and a team of volunteers. The general list of confirmed losses of the Russian army included only messages containing specific information about the deceased, including full name and title and, if possible, a burial place.
The list is clearly incomplete, since the authorities and relatives of the military are trying to hide information about their death. Also, losses among Russian volunteers are not taken into account. Until May, the friends and relatives of the dead were not officially reported about their deaths, but sometimes wrote on social networks. The set of new volunteers to participate in hostilities is actively conducting both the Wagner PMC and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
About 20% of those killed on the list are officers with the rank of junior lieutenant to the general. In addition, a fifth of the dead are paratroopers.
Most of the dead are immigrants from the depressive regions of Russia. There were only three Muscovites in the list, although the inhabitants of the capital amount to almost 9% of the Russian population. Most reports of the dead were in Dagestan (137) and Buryatia (98).
The last time the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the losses on March 25. Then the authorities reported the death of 1351 soldiers.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, killed more than 24 thousand dead Russian military.
