Marriott ceases all activities in Russia after 25 years of work due to the fourth month of the war in Ukraine, the statement published on the company's website said .
“The conflict in Ukraine had serious humanitarian, socio-economic, global consequences. During this difficult period, Marriott took care of the safety and well -being of her employees and guests ... We came to the conclusion that the new restrictions introduced by the United States, Great Britain and the EU make it impossible to continue the activities of Marriott or franchises in the Russian market. Therefore, we decided to stop all Marriott International operations in Russia. ”
The company clarified that since the beginning of the war they help their employees from Ukraine, as well as refugees, including providing them with jobs:
“More than 85 of our hotels provide housing for refugees from Ukraine in neighboring countries. We provided more than 2.7 million US dollars in the form of financial support, fundraising and food for assistance organizations. Marriott is focused on hiring refugees: more than 250 people are already hired in more than 40 hotels in 15 European countries, and we plan to continue work. ”
In March, Mariott closed the office in Moscow and stopped all investment projects, including the opening of new hotels.
