"USSR citizens" convicted in Orenburg

In Orenburg, two "citizens of the USSR" were sentenced to corrective labor.

On May 18, 2022, the Leninsky District Court of Orenburg delivered a sentence in the case of 46-year-old K. and 49-year-old V., accused under Part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist community).

We are talking about the "Union of Slavic Forces of Russia (USSR)" by Sergei Taraskin . The ideology of this movement is based on the belief that the Soviet Union never fell apart, so the current government in Russia must be declared illegitimate. According to the followers of Taraskin, in 1991 there was a "raider seizure" of power, and the current the leadership of the Russian Federation and the states formed on the site of the former union republics, are "organized criminal communities", with which must be fought in order to restore all structures and organs THE USSR. On July 15, 2019, the Union of Slavic Forces of Rus' was recognized extremist organization.

Defendants in a criminal case joined the activities of the USSR and carried out illegal activities after the ban of the organization on the territory of the Orenburg areas.

The court sentenced them first to 2 years 3 months restriction of freedom - for 6 and 2 years 6 months, respectively. However, after the revision of the sentence, they were sent to corrective labor for 2 years and 3 months.

There was also a third defendant, but in January 2021 the court sent him to compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital.
