In Baku, at the 77th year of his life, the Soviet and Russian politician Gennady Burbulis died.
Burbulis was one of the closest associates of the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin. After his victory in the election, he appointed Burbulis by the Secretary of State of Russia. He was the only person who held this position.
Burbulis participated in the signing of Belovezhsky agreements by the RSFSR. He is the author of the wording of "the USSR as a subject of international law and geopolitical reality ceases to exist."
On November 2, 2001, he was appointed representative of the Administration of the Novgorod Region in the Council of Council. At different times, he also held the posts of the Chairman of the Commission of the Council on the methodology of the realization of the constitutional powers of the Council of People's Commissars and adviser to the chairman of the Council.
Over the past two months, two other participants in Belovezhsky agreements have died-the first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk and the ex-chairman of the Supreme Council of Belarus Stanislav Shushkevich.
