The prosecutor asks to give the opera singer 11 years in the colony due to the announcement of a rally against covid restrictions in Vladikavkaz

The prosecutor asked the Rostov Regional Court to give 11 years in a colony to 40-year-old opera singer Vadim Cheldiev for the announcement of a rally against covid restrictions in Vladikavkaz in the spring of 2020. This was reported by the "Basis" with reference to the lawyer of the singer Batraz Kulchiev.

Cheldiev in 2020 lived in St. Petersburg and published in his Telegram channel rally announcements. About one and a half thousand people took part in the action, it ended with clashes of participants with security forces and mass detentions. After that, Cheldiev was accused of organizing riots (part 1 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and calls for extremism.

Before the rally, the singer started a case of “fakes” because of a post about coronavirus, detained and escorted from St. Petersburg to Vladikavkaz. According to investigators, on the way from the mineral water airport, Cheldiev allegedly hit one of the security forces with his fist, a new business was opened against him - about an attack on a policeman. After the detention, he was in jail for more than two years.

Another defendants in the case, the 56-year-old “citizen of the USSR”, Ramis Chirkinov and the 31-year-old employee “Bank Post”, Arsen Besolov, was asked to appoint 9 years in the colony. They are accused only of organizing unrest. Most of the detainees against restrictions due to pandemic courts appointed administrative arrests. More than 20 people received real terms on charges of participating in riots and attacking security forces.
