Russian nationalism and xenophobia. Results of June 2022

We know about four victims of ideologically motivated violence in June 2022 – in Moscow and Chelyabinsk regions. Since the beginning of the year, we have become aware of 13 victims of xenophobic attacks and one who received a death threat.

Behind involvement in the activities of extremist and terrorist organizations in June 10 people were convicted. These are the already mentioned participants of the Astrakhan National Movement” and seven other people who were punished for their involvement to AUE, the Ukrainian "Right Sector", Islamic organizations ISIS, "At-Takfir wal-Hijra", "Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham".

Total since beginning of the year, we became aware of 23 sentences against 43 people, handed down for involvement in the activities of extremist and terrorist communities and organizations.

We have information about 14 people convicted in June for xenophobic statements. two were convicted under Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred) for repeated publications of xenophobic comments on social networks. Eight people were found guilty under Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activities) for social media calls for attacks on blacks, natives Central Asia, law enforcement officers. One person - according to part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code (calls for terrorist activities published on the Internet) for comments with calls for “commission of terrorist acts, violent actions in in relation to a group of persons identified on the basis of professional activity. One person, a supporter of ISIS, was punished under a combination of articles 280 and 205.2. Two more ISIS supporters were sentenced to imprisonment under Art. 280 of the Criminal Code in combination with a number of terrorist criminal articles.

Federal list of extremist materials (FSEM) was updated twice in a month (9 and 23 June), paragraphs were added to it. 5288–5291. The list was replenished with Russian translation pamphlets by Joseph Goebbels materials of the telegram channel criticizing Ramzan Kadyrov, anti-Semitic video and another song of the group "The Ensemble of Christ the Savior and Mother Earth Cheese".

At least 12 people were fined under Art. 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (inciting hatred) for publication in social networks and instant messengers of text and voice messages, aimed at inciting hatred towards the natives of the Caucasus, Central Asia, blacks, Jews, Muslims, communists and policemen.

At least 36 times Protocols were drawn up under Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (propaganda and public demonstration of Nazi symbols and symbols of banned organizations). One of the offenders drew a swastika in the underpass, the other pasted a Nazi sign on the windshield of the car, the third wore a jacket with Nazi symbols, the fourth rosary with a swastika. Another 12 people (three of them are prisoners of correctional colonies) showed in public places their own tattoos with the Nazi symbolism. Others posted Nazi symbols on social media VKontakte and Facebook. Ten of them were placed under administrative arrest by the court. the rest were fined.
