Since the beginning of the war, Russia has received 43 extradition from Europe - Kommersant

During the war against Ukraine, Russia received 43 extradition from Europe. This was written by Kommersant with reference to the press service of the Russian Prosecutor General.

At the same time, the department noted, in the first two months of 2022 there were only four such failures. The number of failures that followed in March-May is already three times more than in the same period last year.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, many countries explained their refusals by political motives. Among them - Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic. In only Germany alone, 13 refusals in extradition. However, in most cases, the country called the reason for the refusal that extradition is contrary to their legal principles, or uncertainty in compliance with the rights of requested persons.

At the end of March, the court in Naples liberated the Ukrainian director Yevgeny Lavrenchuk, who was taken into custody in December 2021 at the request of Russia. The Russian authorities accused the director of fraud and sought his extradition. The court recognized the charges against Lavrenchuk, fabricated and came to the conclusion that the director was criminally persecuted for political reasons.
