
On July 13, the Korean People's Democratic Republic recognized the “DPR” and “LPR”. It is reported by TASS. Prior to this, only Russia and Syria recognized the “republics”, the DPRK became the third state that agreed with their status.
The recognition of the so -called Donetsk People’s Republic was announced by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin. The DPR representative in Russia said that the republics have agreed on "further steps to establish diplomatic relations." It was also reported that the Ambassador of the DPRK presented the DPR to Russia on the recognition of the republic.
Later on the same day, the DPRK embassy in Moscow confirmed that Pyongyang recognized the LPR.
Earlier in Moscow, the DPR embassy was opened at the address Grokholsky Lane 13, structure 2. However, the opening ceremony with the participation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, did not take place, although it was announced earlier. According to the guard at the Embassy, the correspondent of the new newspaper.propa publication, the ceremony was canceled on the appointed day in the morning. When the celebration with invited guests will take place, it is unknown. At the same time, the day before it was reported that the opening ceremony will be attended by Lavrov, official representatives of the LPR, unrecognized Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as Syria.
Legally, Russia recognized the existence of the republics of the “LPR” and “DPR” before starting an invasion of Ukraine. Previously, there were no diplomatic relations between the country and the self -proclaimed republics: the post of Ambassador "DPR" in Russia was established on May 6, it was occupied by the Donetsk lawyer Olga Makeeva. Whether the Russian Embassy in the “DPR” will appear in response: in April, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of “DPR” Natalya Nikonorova claimed that this would happen “within a month”.
