Morning silence in one of the central squares of Vinnitsa cut the sounds of communal technology and the rattle of the buckets of excavators. Firefighters continue to fill the building of the house of officers on Victory Square, and utility officers repair the wires of electric networks interrupted by fragments. The rumble of repair work has not subsided here since yesterday: at night it was heard through broken windows throughout the district, residents of the district say.
A resident of Vinnitsa Andrei Artymovich meets a Medusa correspondent near a police cordon. You can now get to this area of the city only if there is a residence permit in one of the nearest houses.
Andrey’s T -shirt is sparkled with fragments: during the shelling, they pierced his wardrobe with clothes through. “I have such t -shirts now. A great summer option, ”Andrei jokes.
Artymovich lives in a house standing on Ivan Bevza Street, the windows of his apartments reach the house of officers - now destroyed.

At the time of the explosion, Artymovich was at home. “I was lying in the bedroom, working on a laptop. I heard some kind of noise, but did not attach any importance, ”Andrei recalls. - Aircraft often fly here, nothing unusual. And suddenly at one point a very loud explosion is heard. The house shudders, windows fly out in the entire apartment. ”
The broken glass stuck in furniture and walls. Artymovich himself escaped with abrasions and bruises. “I rolled on the bed and fell to the floor. I heard screams in the porch, hissing flame. He felt himself, became convinced that it was intact and I can move, began to look for a cat, - he lists his actions after a blow. - When I went out into the hall, all my things and parts of the balcony were printed to the wall opposite from the window. The sun was not visible because of the smoke, from the balcony it was drawn with heat. I grabbed the cat and ran to the basement. "
The explosive wave even knocked out a metal front door. “Friends and relatives immediately began to call. Until the morning, we raked the rubble in the apartment, ”says Andrei.
During the day, most of the residents of the house solved the problem of knocked out windows: some immediately inserted new double -glazed windows, others scored window openings with plywood. The building itself is sown by fragments, and near the entrances the residents of the house fold destroyed furniture and equipment and construction garbage. Since yesterday, repair work has been continuing in the house: hammers are knocking, cargo vehicles and volunteers are driving up and driving away building materials.
After shelling, one of the residents of this house went to spend the night with relatives, others to the hotels. But many remained in their apartments because they could not close the entrance doors and feared robberies. Some doors broken in half are now standing on stairwells.
60-year-old Oleg spent the night after shelling here in the apartment of his son. He himself lives on the outskirts of Vinnitsa - seven kilometers from the place where there was a blow. Oleg saw rockets flying towards the city center with his own eyes when they flew over his house.

Oleg recalls:
I was in the garage, at home [in the private sector], in headphones. Wife [resorts] with his hands waves, shouts: "Look!" - and shows a finger at the sky. It flew [the rocket] - and after a few seconds it crashed so that it was already in my chest trembled. Yes, with such a rumble that I heard through the headphones. I am immediately on the second floor - nothing is visible [there was no smoke yet]. Then I hear the second, third explosion. I’m calling my son to my phone: he said that they got around the house of officers and the medical center . Thank God, there was no one at home here, the Son. Although now nowhere is it safe.
Oleg, like many Ukrainians, has relatives in Russia with whom he communicates on the phone. They finally “beat the pots” (that is, quarreled) in February, says a man, when the war began. Since then, Oleg has increasingly hearing insults from relatives.
“Here, my relatives call me from Kaluga. They say that I am a bander. And what kind of Bandera am I, if I am a real crest? - Oleg is perplexed. - My parents lived here, all of mine here. Ugh, there are no words. Most relatives do not call from there [after the outbreak of war]. But there are those who understand, call, we are talking. Ask to send photos, video. Many do not believe, can you imagine? Refugees from Lugansk , Donetsk , Kharkov , Kramatorsk are now living near us now. So my relatives do not believe them either. ”
In the courtyards of houses affected by Russian missiles, volunteers launched a field kitchen. Here, residents, police and rescuers are fed for free, pour water, hot tea and coffee. At the entrances there are cars beaten by fragments.
In the morning, Vinnitsy residents carry flowers and children's toys to the house of officers, they are folded at temporary police fences and red-white restrictive ribbons. The area around the Victory Square, where rockets got, is in a cordon of the police and the National Guard.
23 people died from the blow. Yesterday it became known that four-year-old Lisa died from shelling: together with her mother, 33-year-old Irina Dmitrieva, she came to Vinnitsa from Kyiv in the first months of the war. We left for a safer place - Vinnitsa is located hundreds of kilometers from the front line.
The girl’s mother is now in intensive care in serious condition. The fact that her daughter died, she, according to Larisa, Lisa’s grandmother, does not remember - although immediately after the blow she herself told Larisa about this. Doctors do not allow Irina’s mother to tell her daughter that her child was dead. “[The doctor] said she simply could not stand it. Get out two at once, if you tell your daughter that the child has died, ” said Dmitrieva's mother.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation a day after the missile shelling Vinnitsa said that a missile blow to Vinnitsa was delivered to "destroy the Air Force command (air forces of Ukraine)." They emphasized that the city was fired by the "high -precision rockets" Caliber ":
Yesterday, the high -precision missiles of Caliber were struck by the garrison house of officers in Vinnitsa - there at that moment a meeting of the command of the Ukrainian Air Force with representatives of foreign weapons suppliers was held there.
At this meeting, the commanders of the Ukrainian Air Force allegedly "discussed the transfer of the Ukrainian military for the next batch of aircraft, the means of defeat and the organization of the repair of the Ukrainian Aviation Park." As a result of the impact, the “participants in the meeting”, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, “were destroyed”.
The house of officers, about whom the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is talking about, from the Soviet era serves as a concert hall. On July 14, a charity concert with the participation of the singer Roxolana was to be held there. In the evening of the same day, the singer told her Instagram that part of her team, which was in the center of Vinnitsa, was injured as a result of a blow, and sound engineer Yevgeny Kovalenko, a native of the Kiev region, died. He was 25 years old.
“Zhenya died. Andrei in serious condition continues to fight for life in the operating room. We pray for their life and the life of all who have suffered today. We will never forgive, ” said Roxolana.
Natalia and her son Vladislav live near the house of officers, they came to the place of shelling to honor the memory of the dead. From Victory Square Vladislav and Natalia are going to donate blood. Employees of the Vinnitsa Regional Center for Blood Service turned to the townspeople with such a request.
On the morning of July 15, 82 people who suffered from shelling remained in Vinnitsa hospitals, four of them were children, the city authorities said . Among the dead on July 15, two dead children - boys seven and eight years old managed to identify. One of them was waiting for adults in a car in the parking lot of the house of officers, the second died with his mother in the building of the medical center, said the head of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klimenko. In total, according to him, the bodies of 19 out of 23 dead are identified. Eight more people are considered missing.
Vladislav says that he was in Kyiv when Natalia called him:
Mom cried into the phone, talked about what happened here. I immediately broke home. Today we are here, because it applies to me personally. Vinnitsa is my house, and I pass this pain through myself. Here, around the corner, there is a bank in which I could go [at the time of shelling]. My mother could be here in the center, she could die. This is a national tragedy, and I think this cannot be forgotten. This is impossible to forgive.
