Sweden plans to introduce restrictions on the issuance of visas for Russians, but not a complete lifting

The Swedish government would like to introduce restrictions, and not stop issuing visas to the Russians. This was in an interview with the Swedish radio by the Minister of Migration Anders Igeman, TASS reports .

“I think that it would be difficult to carry out a complete stop, it would be wrong. On the other hand, it is strictly limited, canceling, for example, a simplified procedure for obtaining a visa, is what we, Estonia, Finland and others strove in the EU, ”he said.

Since August 18, Estonia stopped issuing Schengen visas to Russian citizens. You can enter the republic only on a visa issued by another EU country. On August 9, Estonian Prime Minister Kai Kallas said that visiting Europe is not a right, but a privilege, and called for the termination of the issuance of tourist visas to the Russians. On July 28, Estonia stopped issuing to citizens of Russia a temporary residence permit (residence permit) and visa for training.

Prior to this, Schengen visas to the Russians ceased to formalize the Czech Republic, Latvia and Lithuania. Denmark and the Netherlands stopped issuing short -term visas. Finland stated that she would reduce the issuance of tourist visas to Russian citizens from September 1 by ten times. At the same time, Germany opposed the ban on the issuance of visas to Russian citizens. After the decisions and calls of some countries, the representative of the European Commission Anitta Hipper once again stated that the European Union would not completely stop issuing Schengen visas to the Russians. They will continue to be issued for humanitarian reasons.
