Moderna suits Pfizer/Biontech for violating patent rights to the vaccine from Covid-19

Moderna suits the Pfizer and her German partner Biontech for violation of patent rights in the development of the first vaccine against the Covid-19 approved in the United States, claiming that they have copied the technology developed by Moderna over the years of Pandemia. It is reported by Reuters with reference to the company's press release.

Pfizer shares against this news fell by 1.4%, and BionTech shares fell by about 2%.

As the statement by Moderna, a lawsuit requiring compensation for monetary damage in an indefinite amount was filed in the United States Court in Massachusetts and the Dusseldorf district in Germany.

“We are submitting these claims to protect the MRNA innovation technological platform that we developed, invested billions of dollars in the creation and patented for a decade preceding the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Moderna General Director Stefan Bansel.

Moderna Inc independently and Pfizer Inc in partnership with Biontech SE were the first two groups that developed a coronavirus vaccine.
