Gazprom completely stopped North Stream until September 3

The Gazprom State Forest Party completely stopped gas supply for the North Stream pipeline from August 31 to September 3. The suspension of gas supply is said in a statement by the state -owned company.

Gazprom claims that the suspension of the pipeline is associated with the need to carry out preventive work at the Portovaya compressor station (KS). According to the results of preventive work, the state -owned company promises to resume gas supply up to 33 million cubic meters per day with a gas pipeline power at a level of 167 million cubic meters.

The need for technical work at Gazprom was explained by the requirements of Siemens. According to the regulations of use from a German company, every 1000 hours it is necessary to maintain the unit maintenance, including: inspection of the case for cracks, potholes, deformations, spots of burners, cleaning of the case; inspection of oil supply systems, air, removal of gas combustion products for leaks, broaching the connections and eliminating the causes of leaks; Checking the performance of safety valves and setting up the air flow regulation system.

The decisions of the Russian company create risks for the energy market of Europe. On the eve of Gazprom reduced gas supply to France under the pretext of discrepancies in the payment of gas supplies. At the same time, Europe is already beginning to get used to this behavior from Gazprom. European politicians are sure that the Kremlin uses gas as a blackmail tool for supporting Ukraine in the war.

The reduction in Russian gas supplies provoked a new wave of energy crisis in Europe. Gas prices at the peak reached marks in the region of $ 3500 per thousand cubic meters of gas. To reduce the consequences of the crisis, Europe has previously taken a number of measures. Countries increase gas supplies from alternative sources: Norway, Azerbaijan, North Africa countries, as well as liquefied natural gas from the USA, Qatar and other countries. Moreover, European states are forced to re -provide coal mines and power plants in order to replace gas.
