The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk said that school teachers were detained in the settlements liberated from the Russian army. They arrived in the occupied territories for work in local schools under Russian educational programs. According to Vereshchuk, which is quoted by the "country", they will be judged under Article 438 of the UKU (violation of the laws and customs of war). This article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a period of eight to twelve years.
“They committed a crime against our state. We warned Russian citizens many times who agreed to come to the territory of Ukraine and carry out activities prohibited by law here. Of course, the court will determine the measure of punishment, however, in the territory of our state there is still a certain number of Russian citizens who have come to temporarily occupied territories and will definitely bear the punishment if they do not leave our territory immediately, ”Vereshchuk said.
She clarified that Russian teachers will not be considered as prisoners for exchange.
“As prisoners, no one will consider them, because they are not combatants, the Geneva Conventions do not provide for the exchanges of the involuntary ones,” Vereshchuk noted.
According to the source of The Insider, we are talking about teachers from Crimea and “DPR” and “LPR” with Russian passports. Also, among the detainees, about 90 local teachers who have undergone retraining in the Russian Federation. Filtering measures have not yet been completed.
The People’s Deputy of the European Solidarity Alexei Goncharenko reported on the Telegram channel on September 10 that teachers who specially arrived from Russia were detained in Kupyansk in the Kharkov region to teach Ukrainian children.
In July, it became known that in the Russian regions, especially with low salaries, teachers are recruited to teach Ukrainian children the “correct” story, as well as, according to the Minister of Education of Russia Sergei Kravtsov, the correct geography and social studies. Teachers were offered salaries about 190,000 rubles.
