"It is strange to demand a blow to the lawyer community." Inozemtsev about the request of the FBK to the EU impose sanctions against the Federal Chamber of Lawyers

The European Commission intends to approve the eighth package of EU sanctions against Russia, including personal sanctions against administrative persons and propagandists who supported the “referendums” in the annexed regions of Ukraine. Doctor of Economics, Director of the Center for Research at the Postindustrial Society, Vladislav Inozemtsev, told The Insider that the Corruption Fund (FBK) proposes to introduce to sanctions lists the leadership of the Federal Chamber of Lawyers, in particular, Igor Mikhailovich, Alexei Galoganov and Yuri Pilipenko. However, according to Inozemtsev, you should not impose sanctions against these persons, since not all members of the chamber of lawyers are “friends of the regime”.

The lawyers listed in the list, according to Inozemtsev, are indicated as advising the authorities of the “new constituent entities of the Russian Federation” regarding the current Russian legislation.

“In my opinion, such a measure is erroneous. I myself once spoke out relatively increasing service of the management of the FPA and noted that a request for self -organization outside the framework of this bureaucratic structure is ripening in the Russian law community. However, in conditions when the Russian authorities openly interfere with the work of at least any independent lawyers, they threaten them with criminal prosecution even for consultations on methods to legally avoid mobilization, it is quite strange to demand a blow to the lawyer community from the other side.

Unlike colleagues-legalists (for example, from the Constitutional Court, without “unnecessary tension”, who approved a destructive decision to include new regions for Russia), the Federal Chamber of Lawyers in the early days of Russian aggression made an open letter in Ukraine, and its members defended and today protect dozens of citizens accused under the article on “discrediting” the Russian army. The activity of the leadership of the chamber, no matter what criticism it deserves, allows you to maintain the structure of the Russian legal community that has prevailed back in the 2000s, which the Ministry of Justice has long been striving to break, who wants to turn lawyers into wordless civil servants.

FBK and associates of Alexei Navalny do important work, indicating to Western politicians to the most zealous adherents of the Putin regime (I myself also offered their own “lists”, believing that it is impossible to ignore, for example, creating a modern Putin concept of the foreign policy of “scientists” - P. Shchedrovitsky, S. Karaganova, F. Lukyanova, D. Training, D. Training, D. Suslov and many others). But in relation to lawyers who play in modern Russian society, rather, a positive role and themselves are objects of numerous attacks on the part of the regime, I would be as careful as possible. ”

On October 3, the State Duma voted for the accession to Russia “DPR” and “LPR”, as well as partially occupied by the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions. At the same time, more deputies voted for the accession of new regions to Russia than present in the hall. Commenting on the results, the State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin admitted that there was a "technical failure".
