SBU conducts searches from the Metropolitan of the UOC of Moscow Patriarchate Ionafan

The Security Service of Ukraine conducts searches from the Vinnitsa Metropolitan of the UOC -MP Ionafan (Anatoly Yelets in the world). Investigative actions are carried out within the framework of the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on equal rights of citizens, depending on their racial, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other signs.

This was reported by "Ukrainian Pravda" with reference to the press service of the SBU. Jonathan is still being held in the case as a witness, the department said. According to the Ukrainian media, the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies became interested in Jonathan after he published materials with calls for inter -confessional growth.

At least three representatives of the UOC-MP went over to the side of the Russian invaders and took part in the proclamation of the annexation of part of the Ukrainian territories in the St. George Hall-Metropolitan of Lugansk and Alchevsky Panteleimon (Polozhoznyuk), rector of the St. Savinsk monastery of the city of Melitopol, Ioann Directorate of the UOC and the rector of Svyato-Uspensky Cathedral in Kherson Archimandrite Alexy (Fedorov). Also, the Izumsky bishop of the UOC Elisha fled to Russia.

The UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate - part of the Russian Orthodox Church (Russian Orthodox Church), has the official status of "self -governing church with the rights of broad autonomy." In May 2022, the UOC MP announced its independence (made changes to the charter) and disagreed with the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, who supported the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine, but did not condemn it. The Orthodox Church of Ukraine believes that in this way the UOC -MP simply tried to hide the fact that it still remains in the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate.
