
In the United States, at the age of 87, singer Jerry Lee Lewis died. This was announced by his publicist Zach Farnum.
“He was there at the very beginning, with Elvis, Johnny Kash, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Karl Perkins, Fats Domino, Buddy Holly and the rest, and watched them disappeared one by one while he was not witnessing and sang the birth of rock and roll,” he said.
According to Farnum, in recent years, Lewis suffered from various diseases. He added that shortly before his death, the musician’s wife said: “He is ready to leave.” Lewis died at home in Desoto, Mississippi. He was one of the founders and main stars of rock and roll. Among his hits are Whole Lotta Shakin 'Goin On, Great Balls of Fire, Breathless and others.
