Mass protests are held in a number of Chinese cities, reports Reuters. They are caused by tough anti-shirt restrictions that in some cities last from August, and a fire in the city of Urumchi Sinjiang-Uyghur Autonomous Region.

All this time, residents of some areas are practically forbidden to leave apartments. On December 24, a fire occurred in a residential building in Urumchi, as a result of which 10 people were killed. The inhabitants of the building were on quarantine. In social networks, information spread that it was because of the restrictions of the victim that could not get out of the house. The authorities deny this.

In Shanghai, protesters began to put forward political anti -government slogans. About 300 people gathered for the protest at midnight. People shouted the slogans "Xi Jinping, go away!" And the “Communist Party, Leave”, reports the BBC. Many demonstrators held white sheets of paper in their hands, which symbolize the disobedience of Chinese censorship. The police used gas cans to accelerate the crowd.

China adheres to the policy of “zero tolerance” to the Covid-19. This means that in order to restrict the spread of the virus, measures such as Locks and obligatory quarantine are used for those who have come into contact with infected people. At the same time, earlier in November, the country's authorities announced some softening of measures, in particular, the reduction of the timing of self -isolation for arriving in the country.
