"USSR citizen" from Chuvashia arrested

In Chuvashia, a “citizen of the USSR” was arrested on charges of inciting hatred and enmity.

In December 2022, “USSR citizen” Elvira Paeva was arrested in Chuvashia under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity) due to anti-Semitic and anti-vaccination posts on VKontakte. Among the posts that attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies was a post by user “Eto Ya” dedicated to the coronavirus.

The case against Payeva was initiated in June 2022.

Payeva was given a recognizance not to leave the place, and later she was taken into custody in pre-trial detention center-2 due to the fact that she violated the preventive measure - she published a video on her channel, and also went to live in a monastery.
