Almost everyone who received a notification is citizens of the Russian Federation. Many used a card for conventional payment for services-without using SWIFT payments or output of cryptocurrencies. Also, people with the Georgian residence permit received reports on the closure of accounts, the Levshitsa channel said.

The official representative of Bank of Georgia confirmed to Kommersant the closure of accounts, but noted that this is happening "regardless of citizenship." He did not report the closure criteria. Those who managed to contact the support of the bank write that they also did not explain the reasons, operators refer to the “internal policy of the bank”.

Bank of Georgia is the country's largest bank. After February 24, when another large TBC bank refused to serve Russians and open accounts to emigrants, BOG was still a little less than a month freely accepted citizens with a passport of the Russian Federation. Soon, however, the bank began to demand a certificate of income, as well as filling out a paper in which it is necessary to declare its rejection of war in Ukraine, to recognize the territorial integrity of Georgia and condemn the policy of Moscow.
