Vakhtang Kikabidze died

The actor and singer Vakhtang Kikabidze died, said the Georgian television channel Mtavari. He was 84 years old.

Kikabidze was the current deputy of the Georgian parliament. He had the titles of People's Artist of Georgia and Honored Artist of Ukraine.

A native of Tbilisi, People's Artist of the Georgian SSR Kikabidze began his career as a singer, performed with jazz ensembles Dielo and Orier. In 1966, he made his debut in the cinema. He starred in several dozen films, including “Do not grieve!”, “Mimino”, “TASS is authorized to declare ...”.

Kikabidze was also a screenwriter and director, shot two films in the 1980s: “Be healthy, dear!” Both "men and everyone else."

In 2008, Kikabidze refused to accept the Russian Order of Friendship due to the conflict between Russia and Georgia. The artist also criticized Moscow for the annexation of Crimea and spoke out in support of Ukraine.
