Elected Acting Shajin Lama of Kalmykia

On January 31, 2023, at the general meeting of the monastic Sangha, the acting Supreme Lama of Kalmykia was elected: he was the rector of the Central Khurul - Geshe Tendzin Choydak (Mutul Ovyanov).

In addition, three candidates were elected at the meeting: in addition to Geshe Tendzin Choidak, these are Gelung Lobsang Tsondu (Anja Aleksandrovich Khartskhaev) and Gelung Tendzin Norzang (Sanal Badmaevich Mukabenov). One of these three is to be approved by the XlV Dalai Lama for the post of Shajin Lama of Kalmykia.

Recall that the former Supreme Lama of Kalmykia, Telo Tulku Rinpoche (Erdni Ombadykov), was recognized by the Ministry of Justice on January 27 as a foreign agent.
