The ex-prosecutor of the Saratov region, dismissed because of the case of torture in OSB-1, headed the regional department of the Ministry of Justice

Former deputy prosecutor of the Saratov region Pavel Melnik, who was fired after publishing a video about torture in the Saratov prison hospital, was appointed head of the regional department of the Ministry of Justice. This was reported on the website of the department.

Melnik joined the new position on February 2, before him the head of the Saratov Ministry of Justice was Maxim Kolesnikov.

Last fall, the Gulagu.net project has published videos, documents and photographs indicating cases of mass torture in the penitentiary institutions of Russia. It turned out that the prisoners tortured, raped and beaten, extorting money and information from them. The archive with evidence was handed over to human rights activists by the former prisoner-programmist Sergei Savelyev, whom the colony administration used to work with computers.
