
The defendant in the case of the “Crimean saboteurs” Andrei Zakhtei served the term of imprisonment of six and a half years and left the colony. After the release, to him, a citizen of Ukraine, was not allowed to go to his native country, but was placed at the Center for Temporary Contents of Foreign Citizens in the Rostov Region. Zakhtea was detained in August 2016. According to the FSB, Zakhti, who was engaged in Crimea in a private learning, was supposed to meet members of the Ukrainian sabotage group, who penetrated the territory of the peninsula, and ensure its movement along the peninsula. The man pleaded guilty, not calling other defendants in the case, and signed an agreement with the investigation. Subsequently, he said that he testified under torture.
In 2017, by the decision of the court, Zakhteya was deprived of Russian citizenship, which he received after he moved to Crimea.
The man was charged with four articles: on illegal storage of weapons (part 3 of article 222 of the Criminal Code) and explosives (part 3 of article 222.1 of the Criminal Code), on preparation for sabotage (part 1 of article 30 of the Criminal Code and part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code), on the acquisition or sale of official documents (Article 324 of the Criminal Code (part 3 of article 327 of the Criminal Code). He received six and a half years in prison, which he spent in a maximum security colony in Simferopol.
