Pskov: verdict for a video with materials from Yingling Old Believers on YouTube

On February 20, 2023, the 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced the ex-deputy of the settlement of Ostrov, Pskov Region, Arkady Markov.

According to Pskov sources, he was a supporter of the “Old Russian Ynglistic Church of Orthodox Old Believers-Ynglings” banned in Russia and posted videos of this organization on YouTube video hosting. Also in these videos, he “called for the commission of crimes of an extremist nature, for the commission of violent acts against the first persons of the state, law enforcement officers, for changing the constitutional order of the Russian Federation and for violating the territorial integrity of the country”

The verdict was passed under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public calls for terrorist activities), part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a religious association, in respect of which a decision was made to liquidate or ban activities), Part 2 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activities).

He was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 3 years in a penal colony, a fine of 700 thousand rubles, restriction of liberty for a period of one year. He is also deprived of the right to engage in activities related to the administration of websites, the use of electronic or information and telecommunication networks, for three years.

In March 2019, he was fined 700 thousand rubles under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code due to the publication of a fragment of the NTV series “Game. Revenge" with the scene of the murder of an FSB colonel.
