Amendments to the Criminal Code were amended by the State Duma. According to them, those who will criticize the Russians who have gone to fight in Ukraine are waiting for up to 15 years in prison, or fines of up to 5 million rubles, or in the amount of wages, or other income of the convicted person for up to five years, or correctional or forced labor up to five years. This was stated by the State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin in the Telegram channel.

For the so -called discrediting of the army, criminal terms are given now, the maximum term of punishment is five years of the colony. New amendments will also allow those who criticize the “volunteer units”. Given the existence of a criminal article for mercenaries, officials prefer to call the soldiers of various PMCs volunteers. The most famous group, which is now fighting in Ukraine as mercenaries, is Wagner PMC. Among her fighters are fighting, including convicts for various crimes, who promised freedom in exchange for the likelihood of death at the front.

“Today, together with colleagues, they made amendments to the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offenses to the State Duma on liability for the discredit of participants in a special military operation,” Volodin writes. - This legislative initiative will protect everyone who, risking their lives today, ensures the security of the country and our citizens.

Any public distribution of knowingly false information, as well as public actions aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, volunteer formations, organizations and persons who are facilitated in the implementation of tasks assigned to the RF Armed Forces. ”

Volodin said that the second reading will take place on Thursday, March 2. At the same time, there is no such bill on the agenda of tomorrow's meeting of the State Duma, lawyer Pavel Chikov notes. The third, final reading, according to Volodin, is scheduled for March 14.

“In fact, the bill, for participating in armed aggression against Ukraine, it is proposed to issue an information indulgence for any crimes committed before recruitment to the troops or PMCs,” lawyer Dmitry Grustatov explained to The Insider. - At the same time, the term “discrediting” can be understood in general anything. In fact, even after the end of the war, the law prohibits giving an adequate assessment of the actions of the Russian mercenaries and the military in the war with Ukraine and protects them from meeting with his conscience. ”
