“Forty Forties” created the party “For the Family!”

On March 13, 2023, it became known that the Forty Forties movement announced the founding conference of the For a Family! party on March 25, the creation of which they announced back in 2021. Representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church said they support the party.

On March 12, Andrey Kormukhin, the leader of the Soroka Sorokov, chaired a conference of initiative groups in Moscow and the Moscow Region, whose participants unanimously voted for the creation of the party. The party sees its task in helping to strengthen the position of a traditional large family at the legislative level.

Commenting on the news about the creation of the party, Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate for Church Relations with Society and the Media, said that the ROC supports the social activity of Orthodox believers:

“Without interfering in politics, the church has always supported the active social position of the Orthodox laity. Family values ​​are something that deserves attention as the goal of creating a party. Undoubtedly, much remains to be done in Russia to demarginalize the family and return it to the center of public life. I hope that the For the Family party will contribute to this .

On March 25, the founding congress of the party was held, at which its governing bodies were formed. According to Kormukhin, the political council of the party included Hero of Russia Igor Zadorozhny, Lieutenant General of the Foreign Intelligence Service Leonid Reshetnikov, journalist Anna Shafran, military commander Anastasia Mikhailovskaya, and political scientist Vladimir Samoilov.

On March 30, A. Shafran announced her withdrawal from the political council of the party due to the workload in the Zvezda media holding.
