Data on those attending Easter services in 2023

On April 16, 2023, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated Easter. We present statistical data on those who attended the festive services.

In total, in Russia, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on the night of April 15-16, temples were visited by 2.8 million people. 13 thousand services were held in 7.8 thousand settlements.

In Moscow on the night of April 16, more than 600,000 people participated in divine services. In total, "during the pre-holiday and holidays", according to the head of the Moscow Department of National Policy and Interregional Relations Vitaly Suchkov, more than 2 million people visited churches.

In St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, festive services were held in 411 churches with the participation of about 84 thousand people.

In the Vladimir region, night services in 110 settlements were attended by more than 23,000 believers.

In the Kostroma region, night services were held in 120 churches with the participation of 16,000 people.

In the Ryazan region, 48,000 people participated in night services held in 294 churches in 215 settlements.

In the Tambov region, 21,000 believers took part in Easter services.

In Adygea, night services held in 44 settlements were attended by about 7 thousand people.

In the Astrakhan region, night and morning services in 77 churches in 40 settlements were attended by more than 10,000 people.

In Sevastopol, more than 13 thousand people came to the festive services in 50 churches.

In Karelia, festive services on Easter night were held in 46 churches in 34 settlements. About 4.6 thousand people participated in them.

In the Pskov region, night services in 124 churches in 76 settlements were attended by 12,750 people.

In the Amur region, 45 Easter services in 37 settlements were attended by 21,000 believers.

More than 5,000 people took part in night services in 49 settlements in the Kurgan region.

In the Chelyabinsk region, more than 25 thousand people attended night services in 102 settlements.

In Noyabrsk, Yamalo-Nenets District, on April 15 and 16, more than 20,000 people visited churches.

In Chuvashia, night services were held in 172 churches in 138 settlements. The number of participants is not reported.

In the Kirov region, 130 night services in 80 settlements were attended by 27,000 believers, 11,000 of them in the regional center.

In North Ossetia, 18,000 people attended Easter services in 31 settlements.

In Dagestan, more than 4,000 people took part in the festive divine services.

More than 50,000 people took part in festive divine services in the Novosibirsk Region.
