At least 62 people died on both sides of the Dnieper due to the breakthrough of the dam of the Kakhovsky hydroelectric power station.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, in the Kherson region, on the right bank of the Dnieper (controlled by Ukraine), 21 people died due to the breakthrough of the dam of the hydroelectric power station, of which five were victims of Russian shelling during the evacuation. About 600 houses on the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region remain flooded.
The Russian occupation authorities that control the left bank of the Dnieper announced 41 deceased.
Recall that the Russian side claims that the dam was destroyed after a series of artillery blows from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is what Vladimir Putin said in this regard:
“Well, who is guilty - of course, the Ukrainian side strove for this. You know, I will not now say things in which I am not sure, so by and large we did not record large explosions before the destruction occurred, in any case, they reported to me. But they purposefully beat Himars many times in the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, that’s the matter. Maybe they had some kind of laying there, now I don’t know, maybe they once again added something insignificant there and destruction went. ”
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russian army committed the demolition of the station, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to Zelensky, said earlier.
At the same time, OSINTS experts suggested that the destruction of the dam began until its breakthrough on June 6 and the cause of the disaster became previously injured and improper operation of the hydroelectric power station by the Russian administration.
On June 8, it was reported that Norwegian scientists recorded seismic tremors confirming that the destruction of the hydroelectric power station occurred as a result of the explosion. A day later, it became known that American spienas satellites also recorded an explosion on the dam shortly before its collapse.
