The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation recognized WWF as an “unwanted” organization

The Prosecutor General’s Office recognized the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) unwanted in Russia by the organization, RIA Novosti reports .

Earlier, WWF was recognized as a “foreign agent” in Russia. The agency explained the reasons for this decision as follows: “Under the guise of activity for protecting nature and the environment, biological diversity of species, representatives of the fund tried to influence the decisions of the executive and legislative authorities of the Russian Federation, and impeded the implementation of industrial and infrastructure projects.”

On May 19, the Russian Prosecutor General of Russia recognized the “undesirable” activity of the activist environmental organization Greenpeace.

At the end of April, the Russian Ecological Society (REO) asked to recognize Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) “Foreign Agents”. The second, as a result, really received this status, but Greenpeace faced more serious consequences, since “undesirable” organizations are prohibited from conducting activities in Russia. Rashid Ismailov, chairman of the RAO, said that he faced the “unfriendly actions” of Greenpeace and WWF. Both organizations allegedly form “negative public opinion on the actions of the Russian government and companies in the field of nature protection”:

“There was a case when Greenpeace showed a fake picture from the water space off the coast of Kamchatka for subsequent false accusations. This destructively affects public opinion, forms false ideas about the work of the authorities. And this is no longer ecology, but politics. ”
