Latvian consulates abroad will cease to issue visas to Russians from June 26

From June 26, diplomatic and consular representative offices of Latvia will stop accepting all types of visa statements from Russian citizens from June 26. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic.

The report says that such a decision is associated with the "unpredictable development of domestic political events in Russia." Applications adopted before June 25 will be considered.

The fact that Latvia is stopping the issuance of all types of visas to Russians, the country's president Ediggs Rinkevich in social networks on June 24 said , after the start of the armed rebellion of the Wagner PMC. Later, Delfi, citing the Latvian Foreign Ministry, wrote that Rinkevich had in mind only those who want to get a visa due to rebellion in Russia.

The head of the PMC Wagner Evgeny Prigozhin on June 26 made a statement almost two days later after the retreat from Rostov. According to him, the purpose of the campaign was to prevent the destruction of the Wagner PMC and to bring to justice all persons who, due to unprofessionalism, made a huge number of mistakes during the “sucker”.
