In Russia, a criminal case was opened under an article on the desecration of burial places (part 1 of article 244 of the Criminal Code of Russia) against 23-year-old resident of Samara Alena Agafonova, who, as the prosecutor’s press release, “committed cynical, neglecting the norms of morality and morality of action, which later posted on the Internet”. We are talking about a video in which the woman “ticked up” the chest of the Mother Mother monument, then publishing a video to Storis on Instagram.

On July 20, Storis Agafonova was published in his Telegram channel by a pro-Russian blogger from Crimea Alexander Talipov, and then it spread through Z-Pliks and channels, causing a violent reaction of the public.

Agafonova later published on her Instagram page an apology post and gave an interview with Gazeta.ru. She said that “in no case did not want to abuse” over the monument or “laugh at the history of the country” and the victims of the war. Despite public apologies, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Volgograd emphasized that they were not going to terminate the case.

Agafonova faces a fine of up to 40 thousand rubles, correctional labor for a period of up to a year or an arrest for up to three months.

“Mother Mother's Motherland is calling”-one of the highest monuments in the world: the total height of the monument reaches 85 meters. The monument is completely made of reinforced concrete. The sculpture was built in 1959-1967 as part of the memorial complex "Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad." It belongs to the second part of the triptych, also consisting of the “rear-front” monuments in Magnitogorsk and the “warrior warrior” in the Berlin Park.

The monument is under the close attention of the Russian security forces and what is happening around it regularly enters the police reports. “Motherland”, according to the FSB, see religious extremists as an object for terrorist attacks, and the police fines ticklers for “hooligan” actions on the territory of the complex.
