A case has been opened in Orel for participation in a terrorist organization

A resident of the Oryol region was detained, who is suspected of trying to join the Legion "Freedom of Russia".

On July 28, 2023, law enforcement officers in Orel reported the arrest of a resident of the Oryol region, “who initiated and maintained contact with representatives of a Ukrainian paramilitary association, recognized as a terrorist organization .” We are talking about the Legion "Freedom of Russia".

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 30, part 2, art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code (preparation for participation in the activities of a terrorist organization).

According to media reports, he "expressed and confirmed his intentions to move to Ukraine to participate in hostilities on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of a banned terrorist organization." He filed a complaint with the Security Service of Ukraine, the border and migration services and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
