The case of six members of At-Takfir Wal-Hijra has been brought to court

On August 16, 2023, it became known that an indictment had been approved in the case of six residents of the North Caucasus Federal District accused of collaborating with At-Takfir Wal-Hijra.

Depending on the role of each, they are charged with Part 1 of Art. 30, paragraph “a”, part 2, art. 205 of the Criminal Code (preparation for a terrorist act), Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code (promotion of terrorist activities), art. 205.3 of the Criminal Code (training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities), Part 2 of Art. 223.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal manufacture of explosives and explosive devices), part 2 of Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal storage of explosives and explosive devices), Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (organizing the activities of an extremist organization), Art. 228 of the Criminal Code (illegal possession of narcotic drugs).

According to the investigation, in 2017 in Kislovodsk, a local resident organized the activities of the At-Takfir Wal-Hijra cell, which included 23 people, five of whom provided financial assistance to the terrorist organizations Islamic State and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Participants of the organization discussed the literature of At-Takfir Wal-Hijra and issues of increasing the number of participants in the organization. One of the members of the organization, together with his wife, planned a terrorist attack in Kislovodsk.

The case was transferred to the Southern District Military Court for consideration on the merits.

18 members of the cell were previously convicted.
