In Russia, for the first time in history, the Panda cub was born. Zhui and Prai, who moved to the Moscow Zoo in 2019, became parents

The pands of Zhui and Pydin living in the Moscow Zoo had a cub. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. This is the first cub Big Panda ever born in Russia.

Mamets Zhui and the female Prandin arrived in Moscow in 2019, but at first they lived separately. They were introduced to this spring. As noted in Sobyanin’s report, the propagation process was controlled by an expert who specially came from China.

Beijing transferred two pands to Russia to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the USSR and the PRC. As stated on the website of the Moscow Zoo, negotiations and preparations for the arrival of the pandas took three years. Over this time, the zoo employees learned to take care of these animals under the guidance of Chinese experts. A special pavilion with an area of ​​800 m² was built for pandas.

Large pandas, which until 2021 were considered an endangered look, live only in China in the natural environment and are a symbol of the country. The country's authorities use these rare animals as a tool of diplomacy. The first country, which received Panda after the creation of the People's Republic of China, was the USSR: the male named Ping Pin was transferred to Moscow in 1957.

China does not sell and does not give panda abroad, but only passes them for a while. Thus, the pandas taken from China and the cubs born to them remain the property of the PRC. So, Zhui and Prandin will remain in Moscow until 2034.
