The EU imposed sanctions against judges and FSB officers responsible for the criminal case of Ukrainian journalist Vladislav Esipenko

The EU imposed sanctions against six Russians. These are employees of the courts, prosecutors and the Crimean FSB. Five of them are connected with the case of journalist Vladislav Esipenko, who was convicted of six years in prison, accusing him of Ukrainian intelligence. The list of persons who fell under restrictions was published in the EU official journal.

The sanctions lists include:

• Elena Podolnaya, deputy prosecutor of the Simferopol district;
• Denis Korovin, FSB officer;
• For the Berber, the judge of the Simferopol district court;
• Vitaly Vlasov, FSB investigator;
• Victor Krapko, judge of the Supreme Court of Crimea;
• Anastasia Supryaga, prosecutor.

Vladislav Esipenko was detained by the FSB officers in Crimea in 2021. He was accused of manufacturing and storing explosives. He lived on the territory of the annexed peninsula and collaborated with the publication of Crimea. Realities ”(unit“ Radio Liberty ”), making reports on social topics. The day before the arrest, the journalist shot a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.

According to investigators, he took the explosives from the cache left there by Ukrainian scouts, and then assembled an explosive device. Esipenko himself admitted to the camera in the work of the Ukrainian special services, but later said that the testimony was received from him under torture. By international organizations, his case is recognized as politically motivated.
