On September 21, 2023, a sentence was passed on a member of a unit of the Islamic State organization (banned in Russia) in the Moscow region.
On September 21, 2023, the Investigative Department for the city of Mytishchi of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region reported that the court had sentenced a 36-year-old citizen of a foreign state. He was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an organization that, in accordance with Russian legislation, is recognized as terrorist), under Part 1 of Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code (promotion of terrorist activities), part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code (organization of an illegal armed group or participation in it), as well as under Part 1.1 of Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code (financing of terrorism).
According to the court, from 2012 to 2016, the convict joined a structural unit of the international terrorist organization ISIS, organized and held meetings with people with whom he had conversations about ISIS, “provided financial assistance to people involved in its activities, providing them with the necessary military uniforms.” clothes, with the aim of their participation in hostilities on his side, including providing them with temporary housing on the territory of the city of Moscow, and also helping to create accounts on social networks, where he called for committing terrorist acts on Russian territory.”
Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in Moscow and the Moscow region after which, thanks to joint and well-coordinated work, the man was detained.
The Mytishchi court of the Moscow region sentenced him to 12 years in prison to be served in a maximum security colony.
