On October 23, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the European Union countries at a meeting in Luxembourg could not agree on the allocation of the next tranche of Ukraine with a volume of € 500 million. The Radio Liberty correspondent Ricard Yozvyak reported this.
Earlier, for the sake of this tranche, Ukraine was forced to remove Hungary from the list of “sponsors of war” due to the alleged cooperation of the largest bank of the country of OTP with the Russian authorities. Kyiv assigned the bank the status of the International Sponsor of War in early May on the basis that this bank continues to work in Russia, where it is one of the leading financial organizations, and also provides loans to the Russian military on preferential conditions. Hungary claims that the bank did not violate anything.
However, now Budapest requires guarantees that the country is not returned to this list again.
As Radio Liberty notes, such a situation was with Greece, Ukraine excluded a number of Greek shipping companies from the list at the request of Athens to achieve the adoption of 11 EU sanctions, and then returned them back.
