
The UAE, who are in the gray list of the intergovernmental group of financial measures to combat money laundering (Fatf), negotiate with representatives of the group of the group of the possibility of leaving it, Bloomberg reports with reference to sources. They, among other things, are discussing bypassing sanctions by Russians and wiring Russian money through the Binance cryptocurrency.
Emirates were included in the list in 2022. Now the group members of at least four countries say that the UAE can be excluded from it in February 2024.
Officials from the Emirates visited the main FATF countries, including the United States and Switzerland, where they convinced delegates to vote for the UAE exit from a gray list. One of the most important issues remains the activity of the Binance crypto accounting officer, whose activity is investigated by the US Ministry of Justice, suspecting that Russian money is withdrawn through it. Its head of Chanpen Zhao lives in Dubai, and there is a crypto -rope.
Bloomberg, citing a source in the UAE, writes that the country is trying to identify, suppress and punish violators of the sanctions regime and eliminate illegal financial networks. At the same time, Fatf wants to make sure that this is not done just for the sample.
Binance announced leaving Russia at the end of September. The cryptocurrency cargo will sell its local business company Commex. According to the director of the Crypto -Runaire for compliance with the regulatory requirements of Noah Perlman, "work in Russia is incompatible with the Binance strategy for compliance with requirements."
