In the Altai Republic, a “citizen of the USSR” was sentenced to imprisonment.
In November 2023, a 56-year-old local resident was sentenced in the Altai Republic. He was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of a public association in respect of which the court has made a decision to prohibit activities that have entered into legal force in connection with the implementation of extremist activities) and Part 1 of Art. 282.3 of the Criminal Code (financing extremist activities).
The investigation and the court established that the accused in the period 2019-2021. took an active part in the activities of the USSR in the Altai Republic, collecting funds to finance its activities.
The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony, with restriction of freedom for a period of 8 months.
Let us recall that “USSR” was created by dentist Sergei Taraskin in 2010. The ideology of the movement is based on the belief that the Soviet Union never collapsed, therefore the current government in Russia should be recognized as illegitimate (for more information about the “Union of Slavic Forces of Russia” see here ). In July 2019, the Supreme Court of the Komi Republic recognized the Union of Slavic Forces of Rus' (USSR) as an extremist organization.
