In the village of Mogoituy in Transbaikalia, high school teenagers bullied two boys. A video of the abuse appeared on the Internet.
On November 19, 2023, a video appeared on the Internet in which two boys were forced to kiss each other, insulted based on their ethnicity, and beaten. In the video, one of the high school students says: “You got off easy, because you’re a Buryat, (why) are you going with a Russian?” The video ends with one of the boys being forced to his knees.
According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Trans-Baikal Territory, the parents of the injured boy, born in 2011, filed a statement with the police. The investigation committee for Transbaikalia took over the investigation.
In her Telegram channel, the head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, was outraged by what happened, calling it “horror” and “wild practices” and said that she had contacted the Ministry of Internal Affairs so that measures could be taken against those inciting ethnic hatred.
On November 20, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that police had found one of the participants in the incident. On the same day, all the attackers were detained. They turned out to be two ninth-graders, born in 2009, and with them was a 12-year-old boy who was filming the video. On November 21, the ninth-graders were detained.
The Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Trans-Baikal Territory, Natalia Epova, said that “this incident happened a long time ago, many months ago... It was a one-time conflict, and there are no prerequisites to regard it with a national, racial bias. It's just a fight between teenagers."
