On November 23, 2023, heavy equipment arrived at the mosque building, located between Mytishchi and Lobnya in the Moscow region, accompanied by bailiffs, police officers and representatives of the Mytishchi administration. It was assumed that the mosque would be demolished.
After negotiations with the community, it was decided to postpone the demolition and return to discuss this issue in a week.
The community is under the jurisdiction of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia. The building was built at the expense of parishioners. According to believers, the mosque was inspected several times.
There are no other places of worship nearby.
Later it became known that the decision to demolish the building was made by the Mytishchi City Court on November 29, 2021, recognizing the mosque as an illegal building. Since the defendants refused to demolish the building voluntarily, the authorities initiated a compulsory procedure to enforce the court decision.
