In Kuban, a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church was fined for discrediting the army

On November 20, 2023, the Slavic City Court of the Krasnodar Territory fined Hieromonk Jonah (Ilya Sigida), a cleric of the Intercession-Tikhon Church of the Russian Orthodox Church (RosOC), for discrediting the army.

The court found him guilty under Part 1 of Art. 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code (public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the RF Armed Forces) and imposed a fine on him in the amount of 30 thousand rubles.

The reason for prosecution was the article “Cult of War” published on the temple’s website, the content of which, according to the court, was aimed at discrediting the Russian army.
