
Against the mercenaries of the Wagner PMC, pardoned by Vladimir Putin, who returned from the war in Ukraine, in 2023 they opened more than 190 criminal cases, calculated the publication “Vitrost”.
In the file cabinets of Russian courts, journalists discovered 160 criminal cases instituted against former PMC fighters, of which the details of the sentence are known only in 105 cases. Most of the defendants in these cases received conditional punishment, obligatory, forced or correctional labor and fines, while the real terms in the colony were awarded to 12 former mercenaries.
At least 32 crimes were reported in the media. The sentences were sentenced to four defendants in these cases: they received a colony up to 11.5 years, the investigators clarify.
Most often, former Wagnerians were persecuted for theft, robbery or robbery (83 cases), violation of traffic rules (27 cases), drugs (23 cases), murder (20 cases).
