In Kislovodsk, the case of participation in the “Right Sector” and the destruction of city property was brought to court

In Kislovodsk, a case of participation in the activities of an extremist organization and deliberate destruction of property was brought to court.

At the end of December 2023, the Kislovodsk Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Stavropol Territory completed the investigation of the criminal case of a city resident accused under Part 2 of Art. 167 of the Criminal Code (deliberate destruction or damage to property) and under Part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an extremist organization), and his acquaintance, accused only under Part 2 of Art. 167 of the Criminal Code.

According to the investigation, in January 2023, the accused joined the ranks of the Ukrainian organization Right Sector, banned in Russia. He recorded a video message in which he “gave an oath of allegiance and expressed his readiness to unquestioningly carry out the orders” of the organization. After this, the accused and his acquaintance set fire to the letter “V” on the “KisloVodsk” stele. The attackers caused damage to the city administration's budget amounting to more than 127 thousand rubles.

During the investigation of the criminal case, it was established that in September 2022, the accused worked in a funeral services bureau and set fire to the funeral services building, destroying property worth more than 1,500,000 rubles.

A criminal case was initiated based on materials from the regional departments of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

A resident of Kislovodsk was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The case was sent to court for consideration on the merits.
