On January 5, 2024, on the eve of Christmas, it became known that Archpriest Alexy Uminsky was removed from his post as rector of the Moscow Trinity Church in Khokhly and banned from serving. Archpriest Andrei Tkachev was appointed in his place.

On January 10, a decree dated January 3 was published on the website of the Moscow diocese, which does not name the official reason for the ban, but states that the removal from rectorship and the ban on ministry were imposed “until the end of the consideration of his case by the Disciplinary Commission of the Diocesan Council of Moscow . ”

The hearing of the case in the diocesan court is scheduled for January 11. The text of the summons (summons) to the church court states that in the Uminsky case we are talking about “a church offense related to the refusal to read the established prayer for Holy Russia” during the liturgy.

The priest has been rector of the Trinity Church in Khokhly since 1994. In 2022, he did not support Russia’s actions on the territory of Ukraine and served prayers for peace. Previously, he spoke in defense of historian Yuri Dmitriev and Alexei Navalny, who went on hunger strike.

Archpriest Andrei Tkachev moved from Ukraine in 2014, a fighter against Euromaidan supporters, supports Russia’s military actions, host of the Spas TV channel, known for his scandalous statements, in particular, he advised “breaking women over the knee.”
