Rublev's "Trinity" was again brought to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior

On January 5, 2024, the icon of Andrei Rublev’s letter “Trinity” was delivered to the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior from the restoration workshop, where it had been located after a summer visit to this temple. Initially, it was announced that the icon was brought for the duration of Christmas services, but then it became known that the shrine would remain in the temple until June 23, the holiday of Trinity.

However, a special climate capsule for the icon has not yet been made. “Trinity” was transported in severe frost, and the preventative seals that prevented the paint layer from falling off were removed right in the temple, on an improvised table.

Let us remind you that after a three-day stay at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra in 2022, experts discovered 61 “significant changes” at the monument. In June 2023, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova announced that the planned restoration of the icon could last up to a year.
